FLOURISH ~ Women’s Wellness Day-Retreat

MARCH : Flourish by discovering Your Unique Path and Embracing Authentic, Radically Honest Human Connection. Join Our April Retreat!

LOCATION: Southwestern University, Georgetown Texas

INCLUDED: Brunch in Southwestern University Cafeteria

Sojourner Tours invites you to a transformative Women’s Wellness Retreat focused on discovering your own unique "way," and embracing deeper human connection. Inspired by the lessons of the Camino de Santiago del Norte and the relaxed rhythms of Spanish culture, this retreat offers workshops to guide you on a journey of self-discovery, trust, and discussions to inspire a more laidback way of living. This special in-person event will take place at Southwestern University in Georgetown, Texas, and is a wonderful Valentine’s gift to yourself.

DISCUSSION Finding Your Way, Lessons from the Camino:

Something that unites women (and men) around the world is that so many of us are trying to find a place of inner-peace and purpose where we can enjoy intimate connections with others. In a word, we are searching for fulfillment. One might say, we’re all headed to this same destination (the locus of personal, communal and relational fulfillment) but there are countless paths to get there. Lisa Gustavson and Francis Mathieu will recount tales of their hikes on the Camino del Norte and some life lessons they learned along the way. Discussions will follow that will set the foundation for the day’s objective, learning to relax, let down your walls and connect authentically with others.

WORKSHOP: Trust, Authentic Connection & Building Honest Relationships

We’ll explore how to build authentic, honest relationships—starting with trusting yourself and then extending that trust to others.

Lisa, the owner of Sojourner Tours, will guide you through an Authenticity, Honesty, and Intimacy Workshop. In this session, you’ll:

  • Explore Authenticity: Learn how to embrace your true self, letting go of societal expectations to connect more deeply with others.

  • Practice Honest Communication: Discover tools for speaking openly and vulnerably, fostering trust and emotional openness in relationships.

  • Cultivate Intimacy: Understand the power of emotional intimacy in building meaningful connections, both with yourself and others.

Through guided exercises and discussions, Lisa will help you understand how these qualities can transform your approach to happiness, making intimate friendships and romantic connections more likely to flourish in your life. By learning how to be more honest and authentic in your connection with yourself and others, you'll begin to see how to develop a deeper sense of emotional well-being, calm and joy. You'll leave feeling empowered with the tools to cultivate real connections that nurture your soul.

LUNCH BREAK

DISCUSSION Spanish Culture: Tapas, Siestas & No Passa Nada…

Discover how the simple act of sharing a drink and some finger-foods, or taking time for rest can restore your energy, refocus your heart, and bring you back to the present moment —a laidback well feeling to carry through your entire day and all your interactions. Southwestern Spanish Professor, Katy Ross, will enchant you with an overview of some differences between traditional Spanish and contemporary American culture which will reveal how several keys to well-being are integrated into daily life in Spain. You’ll get ideas how to better flourish, learning from the Spanish cultural traditions of siesta, tapas, and no pasta nada which encourages slowing down, reorienting your priorities, not sweating the little stuff, and getting back in touch with what truly matters —human connection. Katy will talk about: how tapas is an example of how the Spanish practice of being present and fully engaged in relationships; how siesta is an act of self-care practiced on a national scale; and, how adopting the no-passa-nada attitude can be a wonderful wellness remedy that lessens the self-imposed worry and stress of the typical American hustle-bustle life.

WORKSHOP: Personal Intimacy ~Creating Your Own ‘Sacred’ Path:

Taking a cue from the Camino del Norte, in this workshop you’ll do some activities with Lisa which are designed to help you embrace your unique journey. Everyone’s journey is different, but we all have the same fundamental needs and thus we are basically aiming for the same target. One of the most basic human needs is connection and acceptance and achieve it requires embracing your authentic individuality as you move toward your own personal goals. In this workshop, you’ll do activities to help you identify the values, beliefs, and practices that guide you on your personal journey; then you’ll set intentions for the next steps of your journey. By sharing in small discussion groups, you’ll commit to walking your path with purpose and integrity while also gaining an understanding that the process of discovering your path is as important as reaching the destination.
