Well, all that still exists and you can enjoy it in France!

Starting in 2023, Sojourner Tours became devoted primarily to women. Of course, we still offer private trips for women who want to invite a husband, boyfriend, father, brother or a male friend on an exclusive sojourn because we’ve come to understand over the years that special occasions like anniversaries are a great reason for a sojourn! But, now women are our first priority.

Since opening in 2012, the majority of sojourners have been women and those women have been extraordinarily fun to host! Sojourner Tours guides often remarked on how deep our female guests dive into the experience of their stays, delighting in every aspect of their time in France. So, after ten years it seemed only natural to make it official: Sojourner Tours is a woman-owned business offering trips especially for women.

It was so obvious that Sojourner Tours was meant for women that we don’t know how it took us a decade to realize it! From the time Lisa Gustavson started the company with a small inheritance from her grandmother and chose a name inspired by her childhood hero Sojourner Truth [who gave the famous “Ain’t I a Woman?” speech in Akron Ohio in 1851 at a Women’s Convention rally for women’s right to vote (69 years before women were granted the right to vote)], it was already clear that this business was about women supporting women’s empowerment and women’s growth… so basically this was a real case of not being able to see the forest for the trees.

Now, Sojourner Tours proudly embraces its identity as a woman-owned, woman-founded business for women and we’ve expanded our mission so now we engage in ethical tourism designed according to the Slow Movement philosophy and we also include self-growth and the celebration of femininity!
