September: Embrace Your Body & Sensuality: A French Perspective on Beauty, Aging, and Self-Love

DATE: September 13 9:30-4:30
LOCATION: Southwestern University, Georgetown, Texas

Sojourner Tours invites you to a transformative retreat focused on empowering women to reconnect with their bodies, embrace their sensuality, and celebrate the unique beauty of every stage of life. Inspired by the French approach to femininity and self-love, this retreat offers insightful workshops and discussions designed to help you view your body through a lens of appreciation and respect, regardless of age, shape, or societal pressures. Join us as we explore French cultural perspectives on body image, aging, and sensuality, and discover practical tools for cultivating a deeper, more loving connection with ourselves.

DISCUSSION 1: American Sex & Body – Society and Self-Perceptions Versus Natural Truths
Lisa, owner of Sojourner Tours, will lead a discussion on the American culture surrounding sex and body image. In the U.S., women are bombarded with both overt and covert messages that suggest they must meet unrealistic standards of beauty, and sexuality is often framed in terms of shame and secrecy. Lisa will guide participants through an exploration of these messages, and how they shape our attitudes toward our bodies, desires, and self-worth. This session will include a small group breakout, where participants can reflect and share their personal experiences, while exploring ways to break free from societal expectations and reclaim their self-esteem.

LECTURE: Hormonal Changes & Embracing the Natural Rhythms of Your Body
(TENTATIVE: could be subject to change) Dr. Fay Guarraci, psychology professor at Southwestern University, will share her research on the hormonal changes women experience throughout their lives and how these shifts impact both body image and self-esteem. Dr. Guracchi will make the subconscious conscious so women can better embrace these changes with acceptance, rather than resistance. Understanding the physiological shifts in our bodies is key to feeling empowered and connected with our natural selves. Dr. Guarraci will guide us through how to honor and celebrate these transitions, helping us to view aging and hormonal shifts as a natural and empowering process. She will also touch upon the role stress plays in women’s sexual dysfunction, inviting you to consider if worrying about your appearance is really helping or hindering your sexual pleasure.

BRUNCH BREAK

DISCUSSION 2: Embracing Your Unique Beauty & Confidence – The French Approach to Femininity
In the second discussion, Lisa will lead a workshop focused on self-love, body appreciation, and the French philosophy of celebrating one's natural beauty at every stage of life. You’ll learn how French culture embraces imperfections and unique traits, viewing them as part of a woman’s charm and character. Lisa will share practical tips for letting go of societal pressures to look or behave a certain way, and how leaning into your quirks and cultivating self-confidence is the key to not just feeling truly beautiful but also the French secret to actually being attractive. This session will empower you to embrace your own unique beauty, letting go of the idea of "perfection" and learning how to embody confidence, which is the most alluring and beautiful trait a woman can possess.

COFFEE BREAK

WORKSHOP: Body Movement & Sensuality with Pole ATX Instructor
(TENTATIVE: could be subject to change) Be sure you wear your athletic gear! An instructor from Pole ATX will lead an active workshop designed to help you free your body from some of the societal stigma through movement. Whether you’ve danced before or not, this session will focus on cultivating a deeper sense of liberation, self-love and the French concept of “feeling good in your skin”. Dancing and other forms of movement will allow you to explore and reveal some of your body’s natural sensuality in a joyful way. This workshop emphasizes body positivity, confidence, and the freedom to express your authentic self in a space that celebrates you exactly as you are.
